Its Crunch Time

So this week is going to be one of the busiest weeks, I will have had in a long time.

Finishing touches to my Project 2 Project: http://360gaming.net/, deployed that last Monday, just need to finish testing the game tracker/ranking system and thats all done.
Thats due on Wednesday! Crikey.

It’s also Leeds University Unions@LeedsUniUnion, Celebrate Week, where LUU celebrates its member led Societies, culminating in The Riley’s, an awards ceremony!

LSRfm.com (@LSRfm_com) is up for 3 awards:

  • Best Publicity
  • Best Event, for Big Tidy Up, (live coverage from Rich Legates House)
  • Best Society

So, its always good to be nominated, since the nominations are Crowd Sourced from LUU Members.

I’m also a second time nominee for LUU Lifetime Achievement award, (nominated three years ago when they thought I was leaving).

I’m also working a hell of a lot this week.

  • Metropolis on Thursday
  • Fruity (Hollywood) on Friday
  • Live at Leeds on Saturday all day!
  • Damnation on Sunday all day!

Which then takes us to Monday 3rd of May, which is May Day Bank Holiday. Which means the union is closed, so LSRfm.com is broadcasting from my House for the day.
It’s the day of Halo Reach’s Beta toooooo! Hurrah!

Should be good fun, hopefully it will be Sunny too!

That then takes us to next week, with a double deadline for motion graphics and New Media Strategies and Futures on the 6th of May.

Then thats it the end of my degree…. Shit….

Oh and today I find out if I am doing GSoC 2010 (Google Summer of Code)

And tomorrow is The LSRfm.com Station Manager Job Presentations and Interviews, which I have applied for.

And tomorrow and Wednesday is PLASA Leeds, an Events Trade Show and mini conference, which should be good to make some industry contacts and see whats going on, in the World of Live events….

Its gonna be messy!

Marriage of Figaro

Opera!

Will be posting photos later this week of some lighting I have designed for Opera Soc’s Performance of Marriage of Figaro.

Opening night is tomorrow night in the Riley Smith Hall at Leeds University Union, on until Saturday!

If you’re about about and fancy a opera come on down!

In terms of Tech. I’ve got standard generics, tarts, cans and Source4 Jr’s. Plus a load of Parnells with Scrollers on. All running off Zero88’s Bull Frog lighting desk.

Summer of Code is on, Horace Andy is off and You Do Talk About Barcamp

EPIC REVIEW OF THE WEEK

So I have finally recovered from the epic weekend that was Fruity, Tidy, and Slamdunk as well as Slam Dunk prep. when not working.

In the end Arrived at work at 11am Saturday (Tidy day) and left 3am Monday (after Slamdunk after Party), an epic Weekend.

Throughly enjoyed some of the music as well, I was running lights using Chamsys (MagicQ) on the Vans Stage, aka The Riley Smith Hall, no drinks of any kind thank you!

Best thing about my MagicQ was the remote desktop into the PC, running lights off my phone and netbook was good fun.

So The Slackers and King Blues were enjoyed, but AntiFlag were far too policitical (I now know what a Circle Pit is too).

So Today is day 4 of Google Summer of Code, so far done nothing for it. I lost Monday to sleeping (eventually out of bed by 5pm) Tuesday was clear the theatre day, Wednesday was getting office back in order, and today is Thursday, supposed to be doing the Horace Andy gig, lighting wise, however its been Cancelled.

So that takes us to, what am I going to do today, and Friday. Lets plan Summer of Code work, I’m working for GeekLog on a Syndication API, details to follow.

That then takes us to the Weekend, which is BarCamp Leeds 2009, part of Leeds Web Festival 2009. Should be good fun, at least is was last time, last years BarCamp let me discover geekery in Leeds, which has led to loads of new friends. And lots of werewolf playing.

So look out for lots and lots of Twittering this weekend on that.

Also I jsut remembered its my Boss’es leaving do on Friday so off to Grease Fruity, its  going to be EPIC!

And the Fruity dancers are coming as Pink Ladies too.

Right to GSoC Planning

Speed Runs, Opera, Power Cuts

Power Cut fun, with Speed Run too!

So there was a half city of Leeds power cut on Friday, amoung other things including LGI (Leeds General Infirmary), LSRfm.com Blew a Fuse, Katie Died, and now we are live again.

Power went out at 3pm, twas rather odd, both Laptops stayed on, spotify lost audio, second monitor died, and vista1 stopped. Took my headphones off and discovered the lack of whiring from the Rack.

Ran off down the union, its Union wide, then Campus wide, then a thin strip from Leeds Uni. Business School, al the way to the train station.

Eventually the power came back online at 9pm, and from there a Fruity Setup speed run, all done in an hour, I sent my co-worker to do DJ Setups whilst I wacked up the branding and UV Cannons, EPIC!

Now we are Opera bound, just got home from the tech run, we did a speed run on plotting, that was fun, ’bout 15mins. Then tech run, quite a good show, get to play with the lights a little.

My USB/DMX dongol arrived from Australia (£20 import fee), got that to work with the eee, hurrah, it happily drove the Riley Rig for an hour, then reverted to using the Fat Frog! Go with what you know!

But Opera till Wendesday, its called Opera Bites, with single songs from different shows, a nice menagerie.

Then LSR in the Terrace on Thursday, and then The Rileys on friday, and then on to party at Fruity.

That sums up since Friday!

Life is fun, but busy, lotsa coursework, and some freelance work on the go, woot!

Sleep time now!
