Life Since the last Post

Yes, I’m still rubbish at updating my blog regularrly.

Yes, I’m rubbish at updating my blog.

So its the new year and suppose I should keep up with it.

In recent news I am no longer single, I go out with the Wonderful Kayleigh.

I’m currently sat at my temporary desk in Stage @ Leeds, (just finished painting a Door Blue and waiting for it to finish drying)

LSRfm.com – Leeds Student Radio is ticking over.

Just did a massive 19 hour shift over New Years for Wax:On over at LUU, quite good fun, running the lights in the Terrace again, didn’t blow up the rig this time which is always a bonus, last time I blew a Atomic 3000, and it tripped the whole rig out….. We think its a manufacturing fault.

So coming soon, back to degree!

Which means 360gaming [dot] net is gonna get some work done to it finally…. Its my project for my degree, bonus!

Tho I should really get on with Data Mining’s essay and my Critical Thinking Essay, total of 6000 words to write by the 14th.

Off to meet the guys from Muze.tv for SRA Chart stuff this weekend.

AND I ORDERED A MAC!

I have a 17″ on its way to me!

So stay tuned for new Mac goodness! As well as regular updatage!

General Update

Crikey its been busy, so here is a quick update, and some stuff about Programming Language Speed

Yes I knows, I needs to update my blog more.

I’ve been pretty busy working over at Stage 1 these past couple of weeks, I had to hack the Congo, the theatres Lighting desk, to teach it how to talk to Stage’s new ETC 1 Port Nodes. The Congo runs Windows XP, and I know a few backdoors 🙂

I was reading Binary Hex’s Post on Language Speeds today, and was suprised at the Slow-ness of Ruby, and indeed of Perl, I used to program Perl, but response speed times are not something I tend to notice for languages, I worry mroe about Web Server response and loading times.

I’ve been neglecting AptitudeCMS, just through sheer business.

Hell I’m supposed to be at Work right now, just waiting in LSRfm.com Offices for my Co-Worker to arrive. Gotta love Flexitime!

SRA wise, I need to build an online sign up form for the National Student Radio Chart, which I need to start organising. Broadcast and Freshers week dates are getting close.

Not forgetting the upcoming SRA Training Day in Birmigham on the 12th, that should be good.

The day after that (13th) I have my first non union techie shift, down at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds City Center, should be good and promises to lead to other things one hopes, we shall see.

Its all go here, just waiting for some stuff from other people and then time to kick into high gear!

Anywho I must go, time to go to work, will remember to post soon!

iPhone Shoutcast App.

Just a quick post to say,

OMG its the Shoutcast iPhone Application!

Shoutcast and LSR on the iPhone
Shoutcast and LSR on the iPhone

You have to turn on Hi-Bit streams in settings tho to listen to LSRfm.com, it wouild appear out low quality stream is not in the index…..

Speed Runs, Opera, Power Cuts

Power Cut fun, with Speed Run too!

So there was a half city of Leeds power cut on Friday, amoung other things including LGI (Leeds General Infirmary), LSRfm.com Blew a Fuse, Katie Died, and now we are live again.

Power went out at 3pm, twas rather odd, both Laptops stayed on, spotify lost audio, second monitor died, and vista1 stopped. Took my headphones off and discovered the lack of whiring from the Rack.

Ran off down the union, its Union wide, then Campus wide, then a thin strip from Leeds Uni. Business School, al the way to the train station.

Eventually the power came back online at 9pm, and from there a Fruity Setup speed run, all done in an hour, I sent my co-worker to do DJ Setups whilst I wacked up the branding and UV Cannons, EPIC!

Now we are Opera bound, just got home from the tech run, we did a speed run on plotting, that was fun, ’bout 15mins. Then tech run, quite a good show, get to play with the lights a little.

My USB/DMX dongol arrived from Australia (£20 import fee), got that to work with the eee, hurrah, it happily drove the Riley Rig for an hour, then reverted to using the Fat Frog! Go with what you know!

But Opera till Wendesday, its called Opera Bites, with single songs from different shows, a nice menagerie.

Then LSR in the Terrace on Thursday, and then The Rileys on friday, and then on to party at Fruity.

That sums up since Friday!

Life is fun, but busy, lotsa coursework, and some freelance work on the go, woot!

Sleep time now!

WORK!

Crikey, there is a lot of stuff coming up!

Back to working now, after taking the Long Weekend off.

So far I have achieved some minor work, plans now to work on H3Wheelmen Xbox Live integration stuff, which means 360gaming.net is going to get its long awaited over haul.

That pretty much means complete rewrite and transferring it to CarlyonCMS, but that means I have to tag and release version1, which means work on LSRfm.com – Leeds Student Radio which then needs porting to Shock Radio.

And LSRfm.com goes back on air, on Monday, and currently the broadcast desk is in bits, took it apart this morning for repairs and maintenance.

So a busy week is to be had….

I also need to get on with some phpBB mods, that I have had on the back burner for a while.

Perhaps I should consider rebuilding the home web server.

That reminds me I have lots of coursework to get on with too. I had better start that.

So I shall sign off for now to go and start my work or my coursework, such fun!

On a different note, I enjoyed last nights GeekUp we had Dirk Ginader up from Yahoo! London to talk about Accessable Javascript, it was very interesting! Then there was drinking and that was good to!

I recorded it so ill listen back to that later.
